Feline Coronavirus (FCoV) is a prevalent viral infection among cats. Often, this infection is asymptomatic, but some cats may exhibit mild diarrhea or transient gastrointestinal symptoms. In rare cases, the virus can mutate, leading to a highly fatal multisystemic disease known as Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). However, the likelihood of Feline Coronavirus progressing to FIP is approximately 10%.

How to Conduct the FCoV / FIP Test:

Our FIP tests are grounded in a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay designed to qualitatively detect Feline Coronavirus antigen (FCoV) in your cat's feces or vomit. You will need to collect a sample using the provided swab stick.

The test cassette features a testing window with both T (test) and C (control) zones. When the cat's sample is applied to the device's sample hole, the liquid laterally traverses the test strip, interacting with pre-coated monoclonal antibodies. If the specimen contains Feline Coronavirus antigen, a visible T line will appear. The presence of the C line post-sample application always confirms a valid result. This means that the device accurately confirms the presence or absence of Feline Coronavirus antigen (FCoV Ag) in the sample.

HOW CAN I TEST MY CAT FOR Feline Coronavirus (FCoV) AT ONCE:

Use disposable cotton swabs to collect samples of cat feces and vomit; stir the sample into the diluent, let it sit for 1 minute, then remove the swab, tighten the lid, and invert the tube to mix the sample with the diluent.

Tear the aluminum foil bag of the test card, take out the test card, and put it on a flat, clean table.

Draw 3 drops (about 80μl) of the diluted sample with a straw and add it to the well of the test cassette.

Wait 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature before interpreting the test result. The test result after more than 20 minutes is invalid.

The C band should always appear after a sample is applied, indicating a valid result.
