Description
Intended Use
Carisoprodol Rapid Test (Urine) is a rapid visual immunoassay for the qualitative presumptive detection of SOMA in human urine specimens at the cut-off concentrations.
Carisoprodol Rapid Test (Urine) has been designed to detect SOMA through visual interpretation of color development in the Strip/Device.
Introduction
Carisoprodol is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant whose mechanism of action is not completely understood but may be related to its sedative actions. It is used as an adjunct in the symptomatic treatment of musculoskeletal conditions associated with painful muscle spasm. The major pathway of carisoprodol metabolism is via the liver by cytochrome enzyme CYP2C19 to form meprobamate. Plasma concentrations of 4-7 ug/mL were attained in 4 hours following oral administration of 350 mg of carisoprodol to healthy adults. The plasma half-life of carisoprodol is approximately 8 hours. The half-life of meprobamate is approximately 10 hours.
