Tropicamide Rapid Test (Urine) is a rapid visual immunoassay for the qualitative, presumptive detection of Drug in human (Urine) specimens at the cut-off concentrations.
Description
Intended Use
Tropicamide Rapid Test (Urine) is a rapid visual immunoassay for the qualitative, presumptive detection of Drug in human (Urine) specimens at the cut-off concentrations.
Introduction
Tropicamide is a synthetic muscarinic antagonist with actions similar to atropine and with an anticholinergic property. Upon ocular administration, tropicamide binds to and blocks the muscarinic receptors in the sphincter and ciliary muscle in the eye. This inhibits the responses from cholinergic stimulation, producing dilation of the pupil and paralysis of the ciliary muscle. Tropicamide is a diagnostic agent and is used to produce short-duration mydriasis and cycloplegia.
Test Procedure

Performance Characteristics
A. Accuracy
The accuracy of Tropicamide Rapid Test (Urine) was compared and checked against commercially available tests with a threshold value at the same cut-off levels. Urine samples taken from volunteers claiming to be non-users were examined under both tests. The results were >95% in agreement.
B. Precision
Test precision was determined by blind tests with control solutions. Controls with Tropicamide concentrations at 50% of the cut-off yielded negative results, and controls with Tropicamide concentrations at 150% of the cut-off yielded positive results.
C. Specificity
The following tables list the concentrations of compounds (ng/mL) above which Tropicamide Rapid Test (Urine) identified positive results at 5 minutes.
