Brucella Rapid Test

Intended Use

Brucella Rapid Test (Serum/Plasma) is a rapid visual immunoassay for the qualitative presumptive detection of specific antibodies to Brucella in human serum or plasma specimens. Brucella Rapid Test is intended for use as an aid in the diagnosis of Brucellosis.

What is Brucella?

Brucella is strictly aerobic, Gram-negative coccobacillus which causes Brucellosis. This organism is sometimes carried by animals and it can only cause incidental infections in humans. The four species of this genus that can infect humans are named for the animal which they are most commonly found: B. abortus (cattle), B. suis (swine), B. melitensis (goats), B. canis (dogs). Brucella can enter the body via the skin, respiratory tract, or digestive tract. Once there, this intracellular organism can enter the blood and the lymphatics where it multiplies inside phagocytes and eventually cause bacteremia. Symptoms vary from patient to patient but can include high fever, chills, and sweating. Afflicted individuals are usually treated with streptomycin or erythromycin.

Procedure

Bring tests, specimens and/or controls to room temperature (15 30°C) before use.

1. Remove the test from its sealed pouch, and place it on a clean, level surface. Label the device with patient or control identification. For best results the assay should be performed within one hour.

2. Carefully apply 5 μL of sample on the area of membrane as illustrated below:

3. Add two drops (～80 μL) of buffer into the sample well.

4. Read the result in 15 minute. Do not interpret the result after 20 minutes.
