High Level Ferritin Rapid Test

High Level Ferritin Rapid Test

High Level Ferritin Rapid Test (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is a highly sensitive immunoassay for semiquantitative determination of human ferritin in whole blood, Serum or Plasma.

Description

Intended Use

High Level Ferritin Rapid Test (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is a highly sensitive immunoassay for semiquantitative determination of human ferritin in whole blood, Serum or Plasma. High Level Ferritin Rapid Test is intended for professional use as an aid in the diagnosis of diseases haemochromatosis, inflammation, liver disease, and certain types of cancer, e.g. breast cancer.

About Ferritin

Ferritin is a ubiquitous intracellular protein that stores iron and releases it in a controlled fashion. The protein is produced by almost all living organisms, including bacteria, algae and higher plants, and animals. In humans, it acts as a buffer against iron deficiency and iron overload.

Ferritin is a globular protein complex consisting of 24 protein subunits and is the primary intracellular iron-storage protein in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, keeping iron in a soluble and non-toxic form. Ferritin that is not combined with iron is called apoferritin.

Test Procedure

Bring tests, specimens, buffer and/or controls to room temperature (15‑30°C) before use.

1. Remove the test from its sealed pouch, and place it on a clean, level surface. Label the device with patient or control identification. For best results, the assay should be performed within one hour.

2. Transfer 1 drops of Serum/Plasma (about 15μL) by Disposable pipettes to the specimen well (S) of the device with the provided disposable pipette, then add 2 drops (about 80μL) of buffer, and start the timer.

OR Transfer 2 drops of whole blood (about 30μL) by Disposable pipettes to the specimen well (S) of the device with the provided disposable pipette, then add 2 drops (about 80μL) of buffer, and start the timer.

Avoid trapping air bubbles in the specimen well (S), and do not add any solution to the result area.

As the test begins to work, color will migrate across the membrane.

3. Wait for the colored band(s) to appear. The result should be read at 10 minutes. Do not interpret the result after 15 minutes.

Interpretation of Results

POSITIVE RESULT:

1

Three colored bands appear on the membrane. One band appears in the control region (C) and another two bands should appear in the test region (T) and reference region (R).

● A test band (T) signal weaker than the reference band (R) indicates a ferritin level between 200 and 400 ng/mL.

● A test band (T) signal equal or close to the reference band (R) indicates a ferritin level of approximately 400 ng/mL.

● A test band (T) signal stronger than the reference band (R) indicates a ferritin level more than 400ng/ml

NEGATIVE RESULT:

2

Only two colored bands appear, in the control region (C) and reference region (R). No colored band appears in the test region (T).

INVALID RESULT:

3

Control band fails to appear. Results from any test which has not produced a control band at the specified read time must be discarded. Please review the procedure and repeat with a new test. If the problem persists, discontinue using the kit immediately and contact your local distributor.
