Cathine Rapid Test

Intended use

Cathine Rapid Test (Urine) is a rapid visual immunoassay for the qualitative presumptive detection of CAT in human urine specimens at the cut-off concentrations.

Introduction

Cathine, also known as d-norpseudoephedrine and (+)-norpseudoephedrine, is a psychoactive drug of the phenethylamine and amphetamine chemical classes which acts as a stimulant. Along with cathinone, it is found naturally in Catha edulis (khat), and contributes to its overall effects. It has approximately 10–14% the potency of amphetamine.

The World Anti-Doping Agency's list of prohibited substances (used for the Olympic Games among other athletic events) bars cathine in concentrations of over 5 micrograms per milliliter in urine.Cathine is a Schedule III drug under the Convention on Psychotropic Substances.

Performance Characteristics

A. Accuracy

The accuracy of Cathine Rapid Test (Urine) was compared and checked against commercially available tests with a threshold value at the same cut-off levels. Urine samples taken from volunteers claiming to be non-users were examined under both tests. The results were >99.9% in agreement.

B. Analytical Sensitivity

The sensitivity of DOA Screen Panels was determined by tested GC/MS confirmed controls to the concentration at negative, -50% cutoff, -25% cutoff, cutoff, +25% cutoff, +50% cutoff and 3 times of cutoff. The results are summarized below:
